WeirdMusic.net - Whigfield EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW

WeirdMusic.net & Off Limits Production Presents:

VISIT: Sannie Carlson

WHIGFIELD

Sannie Carlson (best known as Whigfield) is the name of a lady with Danish origins who decided to make a mark in the history of pop-dance music by selling millions worldwide. In 1994 she gained a place in the Guinness Book of Records with the song "Saturday Night" as the first artist to go straight to number one in the UK singles chart with a debut single. Her discography is extremely impressive including numerous hit singles all over the world & four studio albums, a career spanning over a decade which for a pop-dance act is extremely unusual. After many years on stage Sannie has decided to concentrate on the other side of the music industry, writing & composing for other artists in the business, both DJs & singers with names such as the Grammy winner Benny Benassi, Ann Lee and In-Grid. Her latest release is the album called “All in One”, which includes ten of her smash-hits (all re-sung and re-arranged) plus the cover of “Right in the night” (the famous track from Jam & Spoon) and one completely new song called “Rainbow”. The first track released from “All In One” was “Think of you” and the current second single - out now – is “Right in the night”, which includes three blasting remixes and it comes with an unique video.

WeirdMusic.net - Whigfield EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW

Do you Like/Write Weird Music??

[S] All depends on what you mean by weird

When and where did your experience in music start?

[S] I was brought up with music. My grandfather was a violinist and built violins in our basement. He made a tiny one for me when i was four. My father was playing contrabass in a jazz band and my mother played the trumpet. I played a bit of violin and piano and had singing lessons as a kid .

What are you currently working on and what are your plans for the rest of the year?

[S] I'm doing different projects at the moment. One is an album in Spanish that I'm co-writting with an Italian producer called SONCINI. He's the same guy behind hit's like “Two Times” By Ann-Lee and “Tu es foutu” By In-Grid. I'm also going thru demo's for some new Whiggy Material. Apart from that I'm always putting something together.

What do you consider your greatest inspirational sources in music?

[S] LOVE

Please describe your personal studio for us...

[S] My studio at home is basically PROTOOLS 8 ON MAC G5

What are your favorite readings?

[S] News

In your opinion, what role does the third sector, public and non- profit entities; have for music on the Internet?

[S] Well, for the consumer it's easier as of now, they can just go to Itunes and pick out one song instead of buying the whole album. Good for them, not so good for the industry. At the same, there's now so many ways to be heard without actually being signed to a label which is not bad. And anyone with a computer and a little love for music can now be heard worldwide.

Anything else?

[S] Not really!
